A Real Transfer

Image
Hola familia y amigos! This week, as most weeks, went by surprisingly fast. We did what we usually do: go out, meet new people and teach.  Unfortunately, we weren't able to baptize this transfer but I learned a lot and have definitely grown as a missionary and as a person. We did, however, set a lot of baptismal dates. So that's good :)  I have been given news of my transfer! I get a new area, in the same estaca, Estaca Norte. I will be in Nogales with a Sister recently leaving her training. It will be a new experience but I'm looking forward to it! I will be with Hermana Franco and we'll start our work there tomorrow afternoon!  I don't have much time and my camera died so I don't have all my pictures but I hope y'all enjoy what I've got and I'll see ya next week :)

Intercambios, Un Perro, y Rollo de Calabaza

Another week of not a whole lot of news but I did manage to take some pictures this week! You're welcome mom ;) We were teaching an investigator when I noticed her sweatshirt said future sister missionary. I thought it was pretty funny and ironic so naturally we took a picture. Oh and she has this cute little puppy so he was also included in our selfie. :) This week, because my companion is a Sister Training Leader, we had a lot of intercambios. I went with Hermana Ray from Iowa and we had a good time :) We even set a baptismal date! He'll be baptized this Saturday! Today we also got to learn how to cook some more. We made a pumpkin roll and it didn't turn out too bad!  Last P-day we went ice skating and ran into the Elders. We played tag and enjoyed watching everyone fall ;) That's about all the news I have for this week. Just keep safe, happy and healthy! Read your scriptures and say your prayers. ...

5 Months in Mexico

Image
Hola familia y amigos! Today marks 5 months in my mission and I've never been happier! The work is hard and stressful, often times with unexpected results but every day is an opportunity to learn and grow. I'm so very thankful for each and every day I am priveleged to have in this work. Not a lot of new things happened this week but here's a quick recap:  I have a son! jajaj not really. When we go to the house of Hna Ju, we often have a little Luis running around. This week we showed up and Hna Ju said that one morning, Luis woke up telling everyone he had a new name. When we asked what his name was he responded with Luis Thompson. Needless to say, it was pretty funny :) We've been teaching such a sweet young family. They've gone through a lot in their lives dealing with drugs and are truly humbled and ready to change. They now have a baptismal date for the 26th of January. When they are baptized. I'll let y'all know ...

Another Year, A Little Late

Image
The past two weeks have gone by faster than I can explain! Not much happened this week but here's a little slice of my heaven :) We met with some recent converts, Severo y Catita, and as we left we saw una paloma. We then learned that it's a wild bird but comes every night and every morning because Catita feeds it. So I guess they have a wild pet ;) This is Hermana Juliana, Adriana, y Luis (aka Lloron jaja). Hermana Ju is a recent convert as of August and her tamales and tacos are delicious. She's the only member in her household, but we recently began teaching Adriana, her granddaughter, and is very interested. Sometimes  Lloron accompanies us in the opening hymn :)  This is Alejandro, a true warrior. We were teaching him with great success, he even had a baptismal date for this Saturday! He is always ready to learn and read and study. Sadly, he moved to work on a ranch outside of...
