Del Sol (lleva con ella mucho sol)

Buenas Tardes Todos!!! Ha pasado mi primer semana aqui en mi nueva area y me ecanta en donde estoy. My new companion is from the Dominican Republic. She's super funny and we get along well. Her Spanish is super fast but I'm getting used to it ;) The area is super cool! It's a lot harder because it's all gated communities and cotton fields but I'm loving it! Its definitely a change from my last area. The work here is hard but we are finding people that are truly prepared to be baptized and we are seeing miracles. I don't have much to write this week about the people we've been teaching because everything's in progress :) I'll keep you updated next week on the baptisms-in-progress! For now, enjoy some pictures of our travesuras en Del Sol :) (ps the actual border is in our area and we walk past it everyday. its kinda weird) Con Amor,  Hermana Thompson (Picture 7 At the end of this street is the bo...

Peacin Outta Nogales

Image
Hola Queridos! This week we had cambios! Again... jejeje. The are closing the area of Nogales One and my companion stays with the compnion from the area they are closing here in our area. Well, basically, instead of having four sister missionaries here, they are only going to have two. I wont be going to far just down the road to Del Sol! It is just one highway down from where I am right now. Last week, I went there during intercambios. I am going to complete half of my mission in the same stake.   I am excited to see where this new area and my new companion take me!  My last week here in Nogales was a good one. We found two people that are so very prepared for baptism, its incredible! Patricia is a single mother of three daughters and the first lesson we had with her, everyone was so overcome with the Spirit! She told us that we had been the answer to her prayers and el Libro de Mormon tambien. We are so very excited to ...

8 Months of Burritos

Image
I have now officially been on my mission for 8 months! Thats eight consecutive months of pure Spanish, burritos, frijoles, contacting, teaching, studying, praying and pure joy! I feel so very blessed to have the privelege to share the gospel with the people of Mexico. They are so loving and welcome and I am pleased to say that, depsite ocassional difficulties, I have genuinely never been happier! I had a rough start to April, not gonna lie. This week I however, I was able to find a lot of peace and hope through a few good chapters in Doctrine and Convenants, my family and friends, Conference talks and good experiences.  I love chapters 121, 122 and 123 of Doctrine and Covenants. The Prophet Jospeh recieved these chapters as revelation when he was imprisoned in Liberty Jail. He had passed through so much adversity and so many trials but received divine comfort that is, honestly, beyond words. Although we may not go through the e...

Conferencia General

Image
Hola todos! First off, I apologize for not writing last week. It was a bit crazy! Second off, I apologize because I dont have much to write this week either.  This weekend we watched conference and I loved it! If you have not seen it yet I highly encourage that you watch it. and Ill leave it at that! Conference is a great time to receive personal revelation. and, even as a missionary, i cant tell you what thats going to be! I encourage you to watch it, or rewatch, and pay attention to whats being said. not the words but what the spirit tells you. then, apply it in your life. for the next six months review your notes or what they said and apply it! Christ said he wants doers of his word not just hearers! they are words that your Heavenly Father has for you and I encourage you to find them!  I love all of you and promise ill write more next week!  I leave you with my short testimony that I know that these things are true and this ...
