A Week of Learning

Image
Hola Todos! This week went by so fast! I learned a lot this week about humility and hard work. This week I did intercambios with another area. It went really well! Not very many people opened the door but we were able to spend the day constantly looking for people. There was always someone as a backup plan. I learned a lot about the importance of our calling as missionaries and representatives of Jesus Christ and the diligence and respect we should give it. I loved that they had written out a list of names and addresses from the area binder and whenever we got stuck, we got to looking for the people on the list. This week I learned about humility and the service we are called to give as missionaries. On Saturday morning, I came back to my area from intercambios. We dropped the stuff off at the house and headed out to work. We went to visit a recent convert who has been sick lately. The elders were unable to help and we spent a good while looking for members of the ward w...

When the Missionaries Get Contacted...

During the week, we were walking to an appointment when a white car pulled over. The young man inside and his friend asked us what church we were from. When we responded, 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' he began to ask some clarifying questions about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. We explained a good part of the first lesson and invited him to call us with any questions. About an hour later, he called! We answered and helped answer questions about the Sunday services in the chapel. He had committed to come! However, he was unable to come because his job sent him to Mexico City for the weekend. However, we were able to have a visit with him about an hour after he came back to Juarez. He had a lot of good questions that we were able to answer. He committed to reading the Book of Mormon! After our appointment, we received this message: 'Hola Buenas noches, muchas gracias a ambas por darse el tiempo de hablerme un momento de Dios. Espe...

A Rolling River

Hola todos!! :) This week has gone well! I am getting used to a new area and a new stake but I have continued to work hard. This weekend, Martin accepted to be baptized! We had a wonderful, spiritual experience because Rodolfo, a convert who was baptized in June, baptized him! It was amazing. :) I also had a testimony building experience last night. We went to visit a convert who recently completed a year since being baptized. Her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend, who are not members, were present. I felt a feeling I could not let pass. I felt a power build-up behind me that allowed me to testify of the truthfulness of the gospel. I remembered what it tells us in the first chapter of Preach My Gospel. A successful missionary is one that can feel the Spirit testify through them. I left that appointment on a full of the Spirit and contacting became easier and the work became even more enjoyable. I have learned a lot from this experience and am working ha...

Gozo y Conferencia General

Image
Hola mis queridos! This week was full of miracles and personal revelation.  Today I learned that someone I taught for a long time in my first area had made the decision to get baptized! I was undeniably happy!! It was even more special because one of my favorite converts baptized him! It's a joy that honestly can't be described :)) I also fell in love with this General Conference. I was able to write out a few questions beforehand and felt the answers flood in as I listened for them. I truly testify that God answers our questions and prayers as we work to be worthy to receive them.  I invite you all to watch a session from the conference again during the week. write down a question and look for the answers the Spirit shows you .  On a side note, we were walking to lunch after a session and the ground gave way beneath me and I fell into a hole about knee deep. Just imagine that for a minute and have a good laug...
