Ay Mija

I could never be more grateful or more happy! 

This week was a blur. My companion took it upon herself to announce to the whole world that it was my birthday. I felt like I was celebrating half of the week! It was something super special and something that truly touched my heart. I was able to see such sweet spirits reach out to me. I'll never forget it. 

I want to tell you a little story about Ana Yeli and Victor. 

We were walking one day and happened to contact a middle-aged couple. They were obviously tired and told us that they lived in a little trailer just around the corner. We didn't really believe them because our area is almost all gated communities and we hadn't seen their trailer before. About a week later, we felt the impression to go to where we had contacted them. 5 minutes later, we saw Ana Yeli walking by. We stopped to talk to her and she started joking about how she thought we weren't gonna visit her. She said 'pensaron que mentimos verdad?' From then on we were able to visit them and see their progress in the gospel. Victor left behind his addiction to marijuana, cigarettes and alcohol in a manner of two weeks. They were able to get married and baptized in the same week. It was an emotional experience and something I'll never forget. It was a good reminder that the gospel changes. Not just listening to it but applying it. It makes us feel good to hear it, but it makes us better to apply it. True happiness is this, living the way God wants us to. He knows the dangers in life and how to avoid them and the way we can be happy in this life. True happiness is watching someone else's life become a little happier because of the gospel. I'm truly happy for the opportunity I had to see these two children of God take the first step on the path back to their Heavenly Father.
