It's a Zoo Down Here

Hola Todos!!!!

This week has been a hot one. It's definitely not something I'm used to or something I like but I mean we do it for the Lord :)

This week we found several people that have huge potential to be baptized! We have also found other people to begin teaching that also seem very receptive! Karen is a wonderful young lady that we started teaching these last week. She has gone to several church activities and we are starting to see a testimony take hold in her heart. We are super excited to keep the work going here in Del Sol.

This week we also took a little adventure to el Parque Central here in Juarez. I think it's probably the only green part of the city! For some reason, they have an ostrich and a giraffe there but it served for a good, relaxing afternoon. ;) My companion bought me this little purple devil telling me it reminded her of me... we're working on that ;) I have also developed an obsession for bolis and I won't be able to get rid of it. We also seemed to find a weird amount of animals this week. Juarez in summer is getting mas raro :)

On a more spiritual note, here's a bit of what I studied this week.
Alma 8 in the Book of Mormon.
I LOVE this chapter of the Book of Mormon and, well, the entire story of Alma the Younger.
In this chapter, it caught my attention that in the city of Ammoniah he was rejected and headed out to another city. My favorite verse is this:

15 Blessed art thou, Alma; therefore, lift up thy head and rejoice, for thou hast great cause to rejoice; for thou hast been faithful in keeping the commandments of God from the time which thou receivedst thy first message from him. Behold, I am he that adelivered it unto you.

When we faithful and keep the commandments, we have reason to rejoice! The gospel of Christ is pure and simple. We need to remember that even when callings and assignments seem heavy and overbearing, if we have a love for the Savior and are working to truly keep the commandments, we have reason to rejoice! We are doing good!

I encourage each of you to read the rest of the chapter. It talks about Alma's experience as a missionary but applies to us as members and non-members, followers of Christ.

I love you all and as always, am so very thankful for all your love and support!

Talk to you all soon!

Love,
Hermana Thompson

Also we said bye to President Owen :( :(
but this week we're welcoming President Henke :) :)
