Tender Mercies

In honor of Thanksgiving and the attitude of gratitude we should always strive to have, let me share with y'all a few of the things I am very grateful for :) - The Gospel :) It has guided me in my darkest moments and brighten the good times. I truly love it more than anything. I'd give all my time on Earth to help others find the eternal joy it brings. -Tacos al Pastor. No explanation needed.  -Two feet that can take me anywhere. -A loving and supportive family. -The opportunity to serve the Lord, my Savior and the people of Mexico.  -Good friends. -Music :) -Patricia! Her story is one of the highlights of my mission. We contacted her and she took the card of Christ, put it over her heart, and said: 'Mi Maestro'. After that, we were able to teach a very powerful lesson about the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. In that same lesson, she accepted to be baptized. A few days later, I was transferred to a new are...

Transfers

Hola todos! There is not much to report this week! we had transfers... and we're staying the same! I learned the power of family history this week. We have been teaching Martin about the importance of family history and giving our ancestors the opportunity to hear and accept the gospel. We were able to get him an account and start the work! It was hard work at first. He didn't remember a single date! I was only able to find a little bit more of information on his mom. Then, during the week, we went to the family history center to get a little bit more help. There, with a lot more work, we were able to find and confirm dates and documents of almost all of his great grandparents, who he never knew! We were also able to find out that someone related to his family is a member! Soon, we will able to go to the temple and do the work for his family! I have a new found love for family history! I invite each one of you to get in...

A Week of Milagritos :)

Hola mis queridos! This week went by really fast and it made me think about how I need to continue growing and working hard to be able to help the people here while I have been given the privilege to do so. Juarez is doing good. Last week someone we were teaching declared their love for me so that was really weird. I watched two grandmas yell at their five year old grandkids for not doing their homework perfectly and we had like five or seven bomb alerts in the city. I'd say we're doing pretty good :) The miracles I saw this week were plentiful! The first was during Zone Conference. I had started to doubt a bit my efficiency as a missionary. I had said several prayers asking God if I was really doing well. When Elder Chavez shared the PowerPoint of the Gathering of Israel, the Spirit confirmed, very strongly, that I had been prepared for this for years. I felt that backup witness of the Spirit and was ready to go. It has helped me through th...

El Que No Vive Para Servir, No Sirve Para Vivir

Hola todos!  This week we had several opportunities to do 'surprise service'. As we ate or taught several members and converts, I knew that God had placed us there in the right moments. We had two experiences where the person we were visiting got sick and we were able to be there to help them. I learned the importance of service and loving the people we serve. We can serve half-heartedly and the job sure gets done, but what good does that do us? As I remember my great grandpa always said... 'If you're gonna do something, do it well.' I also learned that Juarez can and will lie to you about the weather. It's hot again... :(  This week we started teaching Marta. We had contacted her about two weeks ago, but we were unable to find her in those two weeks. Yesterday, I thought popped into my head: 'Stop by and see if she's home' Yeah okay, i thought. So we headed on over there and knocked on the door. Then she walked up be...
