Adjusting to the CCM
I met the rest of my district and I love them. It's me, Hermana Rogers, Hermana Benson, Hermana Burk, Elder Hemming, Elder Gammon, Elder Hooge, and Elder Despain. They are all such great people and our districts bonds really well. Our branch is pretty awesome too. It's with all the Latinos and we LOVE them. Its so fun to be able to talk to them and joke with them and teach them words in English. We love spending time together and they join us when we play volleyball.
We are in an intermediate class so its complete immersion. All of our lessons and classes are solamente in Espanol and we are to teach completely in Espanol as well. It's been interesting to get used to, but I already find myself thinking in Spanish. Once, we had a practice lesson teaching the Plan of Salvation and our teacher let us teach it in English. I was very surprised at how hard it was. I kept thinking of the things I was going to teach in Spanish. The gift of tongues is so real and I'm so grateful for it!
There is a worker here named Gabe and he's the best. We first met him while walking and had a great time chatting with him. He told us he was living the dream working among angels. It was super sweet. The next time we saw him, we were sitting on a bench outside our classroom stressing about the lesson we were going to teach. He walked by and reminded us of our divine potential at just the right time. He almost brought me to tears. It's the little miracles that I never noticed before, but I've learned are so abundant; especially here. He makes everyday here so much more cheerful.
Spiritual thought: Presidente Bennett was talking to us about Christ suffering in Gethsemane. He believes that when Christ was suffering in the Garden He saw the faces of every individual who had, is, or would ever live. He said he believed that Christ didn't see us struggling or suffering but that He saw each one of us in our proudest moments with our biggest smiles. That is what gave Him the courage to keep going. Christ really does want to be with us in our proudest moments and He is there to help us. He knows what you are going through, how you feel, and He loves you. The artist that painted my favorite depiction of Christ in the Garden said she came to realize that the miracle wasn't the act itself, although there should never be credit taken away from what He did for us, but it was love that brought Him there. The miracle was the love that brought Him there.
